The wiring team has finished the 2nd US-made SBND APA! See a time-lapse video below. We are now working on packing everything, and everyone, up and moving things to Fermilab for detector construction. We are extremely appreciative of everyone at Wright Lab who has contributed to this project and helped us along the way.
First SBND APA Complete
The first US-made SBND APA has recently been completed! The crew at Wright Laboratory have been working very hard to reach this milestone. Watch the time-lapse video to see their progress over the last several months. Wiring of APA #2 will start very soon.
SBND Wiring in Full Swing
Pip and Avinay have been hard at work wiring the first of 2 Anode Plane Assemblies (APAs) for the SBND experiment. This is work being done in collaboration with our Yale colleagues, who are graciously hosting us at Wright Laboratory. Several hundred wires are done, a few thousand more to go!
Dr. Esquivel!
Congratulations to Jessica Esquivel, who defended her Ph.D. dissertation last week. Jessica gave an excellent overview of her thesis topic, “Muon/pion separation using Convolutional Neural Networks(CNNs) for the MicroBooNE charged current inclusive cross section measurement.”, and it was great to have her back in Syracuse for a few days.
Getting ready for SBND construction
Our group is getting ready to start wiring 2 Anode Plane Assemblies (APAs) for the SBND experiment. We are performing this construction work in the newly renovated Wright Laboratory at Yale University, where we collaborate with the group led by Bonnie Fleming. This February, after many trips to Yale over the past year by Mitch/Pip/Avinay, we have completed the construction of the wiring apparatus, and look forward to starting production soon!
