Liquid argon is an excellent target for neutrino experiments. Its large mass and relatively high density make for reasonable neutrino interaction rates. Purified liquid argon supports long electron lifetimes and a bright scintillation signal at an affordable cost, making large-volume liquid argon time projection chambers an attractive technology.
